What do you get when you have one of the greatest soul singers of our time and the most recognizable tune in the history of the United States? It’s Marvin Gaye singing the Star Stangled Banner, of course! This rendition might just be the most perfect singular rendition of any song written in the English language! God bless America and God bless Marvin Gaye. (EP)

Get Juiced
25 05 2007The spot for juice and everything in between. A little hidden gem in Miami that isn’t so hidden, El Palacio de Los Jugos (The Juice Palace) is the jump off if you are in search of that true Miami or even better that true Latin American experience. While the palace is popping up all over Miami, the original spot is on Flagler and 57th avenue and you can get a whole meal for like $2 and in Miami where they charge you major $$$$ just for breathing, that isn’t bad at all. If you are not feeling the best pork sandwich around (*ahem: MP*), don’t sweat it, their chicken is like no other! Oh – and don’t be scared of the big Cuban dude with the machete, he’s there to chop up coconuts not tourists. (JV)

Like Clockwork …
25 05 2007Talent these days are hard to come by. Thom Yorke, on the other hand, has never had a problem in regards to talent-letting. His stripped down performance of the song “The Clocks” off his solo album “Eraser” is but a small glimpse of the man’s raw musical gift. In an age where American Idols and lip sync popstars are a social norm, we applaud the likes of Yorke who keeps it bare minimum to which real talents are put to test, like clockwork. (EP)

Lam-bitious
24 05 2007San Francisco/NY based fashion designer Derek Lam has been making moves since his introduction into the high fashion world back in 2004. Having won the prestigious CFDA Perry Ellis Swarovski Award for new designers in 2005, Lam has been on every Top 10 list of “Designers to Watch”. He just recently landed the Tod’s account and will be creating a specific Ready To Wear line for Fall 2008. Haute, indeed! (EP)

Delta Force One
24 05 2007When half the year the sun sets at 4PM, Copenhagen might be the complete antithesis of Miami. So what do you do with all that indoor time? Why not build one sick, modern-designed recording studio with some of the world’s most sought-after analog gear along with state-of-the-art digital equipment and a Thomas Meier inspired white wall design. Delta Lab Studio looks like a scene out of Kubrick’s 2001: Space Odyssey but with a lot of subwoofers. It’s $700 per hour for studio time; that’s $100 for real studio and $600 for the ambiance. It’s worth it. (EP)

They’re Back!
24 05 2007The Pumpkins are gearing up to Smash it! The world is ready for Alt Rock Kings, The Smashing Pumpkins to make their triumphant return. So much so, that the server handling the ticket sales for their exclusive gigs in Asheville, NC crashed and burned after an overwhelming demand. Keep an ear out for their new album Zeitgeist, it will bring you back to the days when flannel and depression were cool. (JV)

Introducing Induce …
23 05 2007When it comes to the ultimate selecta, Miami DJ Induce takes the cake. You can catch him on any given night (Shore Club, The Standard, Pawn Shop, Studio A, etc.) playing any given record for any given crowd. He’s been known to rock a party by infusing the likes of Steely Dan, Louie Vega, A Tribe Called Quest and Justin Timberlake in one seamless flow. How does he manage such an eclectic mix? “I have a lot of free time on my hands.”

Movin’ On Up …
23 05 2007As if Ian Schrager needed an introduction – this hotel genius just launched the ultra exclusive members-only v.i.p. rooftop terrace club/spa/restaurant/lounge/whatever-your-$1000-a-year-invite-only-membership-will-get-you. Only 500 invitations were given out worldwide and so far, P. Diddy did NOT get one. *phew* With that being said, check yourself into the Gramery Park Hotel and sneak your way up to the rooftop … that means walk your ass up the stairs. It’ll be worth it!
