Jenny Holzer

Jenny Holzer is most known for her work in LED lights. Particularly her “Truism” series, a compilation of statements and aphorisms (“truisms”) which has been publicised in a variety of ways: listed on street posters, in telephone booths, and even, in 1982, on one of Times Square’s gigantic LED billboards. Her recent efforts bring her famed truisms to building facades across London. (see image below) Presented as part of the Barbican’s Beckett Centenary Festival, celebrating the hundredth anniversary of Irish poet Samuel Beckett’s birthday (April 13), the light projections will feature words drawn from the writings of Beckett and others. Living in a glass house …

The famed Phillip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, CT is now officially open to the public. What was once a private estate, this modern-century glass house is finally letting us designer-junkies get a first-hand glimpse of this timeless architectural monument. Built in 1949 by famed post-modern architect Phillip Johnson, it’s 47 sprawling acres of lush fields, oak trees and bubbling brook has been noted as one of the most beautiful places in America. It’s claim to fame was having the first glass floor where guests can look down to find a hot-water spring underneath their feet. Johnson was ahead of his time and for you to take a tour of this gem will have you waiting a long time. They’re booked solid until Spring of 2008! D is Nice …

Who would’ve thought that legendary hip-hop artist D-Nice would be making some major noise as a photographer?!? Indeed, D-Nice Photography is making names for itself as Derrick Jones has been known to deliver some impressive, not to mention stunning, shots.
