Back to School …

31 07 2007

“Rebellion. It’s at the heart of every cultural movement. It’s the force behind change, helping to sway the power from the status quo. In constant action against the expected, we hold a pen in one hand and a sword in the other, critiquing the culture we help create, striping the emperor of his clothes and dressing the new guard. Welcome to PUBLIC SCHOOL: prepare for the re-education.”

Public School is an ode to New York City, taking inspiration from the nostalgia of its history and the inherent attitude of its inhabitants. Having renamed New York City as the Black Apple, PS creates a men’s wear line that is continually driven by the energy and creative force of the Black Apple. Public School captures the time of lost innocence and rebel youth, creating its new movement in time.

Dover Street Market London

If you’re in London, hop on over to 17-18 Dover Street in the West End, there you will find one of the city’s fashion gems, Dover Street Market. This uber-sleek boutique highlights some of tomorrow’s couture findings along with ready-to-wear apparrels. Taking cue from one of fashion’s timeless masters, Rei Kawabuko, you will notice many post-modern touches of shift-space/time design within the store’s layout. As the British would say, “It’s Brilliant, mate!” (EP)

With his angular, sleek design – often architectural in presence yet sheepishly feminine at the same time, Thakoon’s clothing has graced every A-Lister on the block, not too mention Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour, tagged him as the new ‘it-boy’ for next season! Check out his pre-2008 Spring Collection here and thank Thakoon for bringing sexy back. (EP)
